This is Living?
7th September 2006 | Permanent Link | CommentThis is the final nail in Sony’s coffin for me personally. I’ve always been a fan of Sony, both my Playstation 1 and 2 are first generation models (well, my PS2 was until it randomly died a couple of months ago so now I have a slimline) and I was planning on getting a PS3 when they were first announced. However, due to all the recent bad news surrounding the PS3, and all the positives about the 360 and Wii I find myself checking my bank statement and looking around for the cheapest place to buy a 360.
One of the major selling points of Sony’s consoles have been the exlusive titles, GTA, Final Fantasy, Pro Evolution Soccer (In Europe at least) but now that all of these franchises are making appearances on the 360 and launching at the same time, it really only leaves one exclusive series on playstation that I care about, Gran Turismo, and with games like PGR3 and Forza on the 360 it isn’t enough to keep me interested. Not to mention the 360’s superb online setup.
I think this news will have lost Sony a huge amount of customers, especially in Europe. Europe always gets shafted with higher prices than America and Japan (For example, a Premium 360 in the US would cost around £210 where as in the UK it’s £200 for a Core package). Now that they’ve moved the release back to March and with such a small number of units being shipped I can’t see how Sony can hold it’s European market share.
Hey, maybe after all a March release wont be so bad for Sony, I mean, apart from Halo 3, it’s not like Microsoft are launching any major titles around then.
Oh…
