About The Site

Two years ago, me and a couple of friends decided that we wanted to create an article based website, similar to that of A List Apart, which focused mostly around design and slightly less on coding, semantics and the like. Whilst brainstorming names we came up with "Designer Pad". Unfortuantely, we never came up with any conent for the site despite having a design which we all liked and were eager to implement. After the domain name lay dormant for around a year I decided to use it for my blog.

designerpad.org is powered by the Textpattern CMS which has been supplemented by the following plugins:

I am also using the Live Textile-Formatted preview mod by Jonathan LaCour.

About The Author

Born in 1987 in Ormskirk in the North West of England, I lived the first 18 years of my life in a small town called Maghull on the outskirts of Liverpool; a town voted the 36th most boring in the United Kingdom. I started "designing" websites at the age of 12 using Geocities pagemaker tools. I was disappointed by the lack of freedom offered by Geocities and began to learn HTML at the age of 13. Together with two of my close friends at the time we entered a web design competition run by Intel and achieved second place in our age group. A few years later I bought the domain name Scryypy.com (Scryypy was my online "handle" until fairly recently) and began to move from using HTML into the realms of XHTML and CSS.

I am currently studying at Loughborough University towards a BSc degree in Computer Science & e-Business.
